How you can help...

Helping in the village...

There are many things you can do in the village to help out.  You are most welcome to visit the school and assistant the teachers in any daily activities.  Also maybe consider taking a few kids and asking them to help you clean up an area of the village, to promote cleanliness.  Organize and sponsor a football game against a neighboring village.  Bring a book to the school and read to the children or teach them to play tic-tac-toe in the sand.  Get creative, the children love the contact and you being there can make a difference.

However, we do ask you to be a responsible tourist and visitor to the village and ask you NOT give money or items (including sweets) to the children.  Not only does it encourage begging but it discourages the children from an education when they are being taught they can make a living by begging for cash.  We understand a few dollars might not mean anything to you and would probably mean a lot to a child, but in the long run, you're not doing them any favors... please keep this in mind and remember Chembe Child project and Billy Riordan Memorial Trust for ways to give back.

Financial Support...

Any cash donation is appreciated.  There are a number of things the primary school needs and a few of our future projects are outlined below.

Uniforms and shoes for all kids, pens, pencils and paper, fencing around the school, volunteer teacher housing, new borehole pump for clean water.

If you would like to make an annual or one time donation please visit our 'contact us' page and submit an email.  Let us know where you're from and how you're interested in helping - we'll get back to you with more details!
